Maroon 5, Taylor among stars announced for Tampa area concerts

Labor Day usually marks the end of summer but things are hot in concert venues around the Bay area with several big shows announced Tuesday, including Usher and Maroon 5 coming to The Forum in separate shows.

Usher, the Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter, has set a Dec. 14 stop at the Forum. August Alsina and DJ Cassidy also are on the bill.

Maroon 5, performing with Magic! and Rozzi Crane are coming to town on Feb. 25.

It was also announced late last week that singer-songwriter James Taylor will play the Forum on Nov. 14. Emmylou Harris will play Tampa Theatre on Nov. 12. Tickets to Taylor ($31 to $96) and Harris ($53 to $93) go on sale at the venues on Friday.

The Straz Center announced several additions to its 2014-15 season including Jay Leno (March 29), Demetri Martin (Dec. 12), Celtic Woman (April 25) and the return of the Broadway show “Once” in September 2015. Tickets to the Straz shows are on sale now at the box office and online at www.strazcenter.org.

Usher’s announcement of a 27-city tour comes after the release of the hip-hop superstar’s new single/video “She Came To Give It To You.” Usher also was named the No. 1 Hot 100 artist of the 2000s decade, and was named by Billboard as the second most successful artist of the 2000s.

Usher and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine are coaches on NBC’s “The Voice.

Levine and his band’s 27-stop North American tour follows the release last week of Maroon 5’s fifth studio album, “V.” Maroon 5’s previous hits include “This Love,” “She Will Be Loved” and “Moves Like Jagger.”

Usher tickets range from $35 to $150 and will be available Sept. 15 at the Forum box office, 411 Channelside Drive, Tampa, at www.Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster outlets. To order by phone, call (800) 745-3000.

Maroon 5 tickets cost between $26 and $122 and go on sale Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased at the Forum box office and through www.livenation.com.

Other shows announced include:

♦ The Indigo Girls performing with Symphony are coming to The Mahaffey on Feb. 27. Tickets are $45 to $65 and go on sale at noon Friday at themahaffey.com. “Cirque Dreams Holidaze,” (Nov. 28), and The Price Is Right Live, (April 26) are also coming to the downtown St. Pete theater.

♦ Dennis DeYoung will perform The Music of STYX with Rock Symphony (Feb. 20) at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater and Linda Eder (March 19), Louie Anderson (Nov. 6) and Iris DeMent (Jan. 25) will appear at Capitol Theatre.
