Nearly two years after Richard Gonzmart revealed plans to revive the defunct Tampa burger chain Goody Goody, the restaurant is finally ready to open its doors.
Goody Goody will once again be serving burgers, fries and pies starting at 7 a.m. on Aug. 23 at its new location in Hyde Park Village in South Tampa.
The restaurant tweeted the news today, making it official.
The new Goody Goody is located at 1601 W. Swann Ave. The last original Goody Goody restaurant closed in Tampa more than 10 years ago. The original Goody Goody location was on Florida Avenue in downtown Tampa.
Gonzmart, of Columbia Restaurant and Ulele fame, purchased the brand in 2014, including the original recipes and furniture. The sign currently in place at the Hyde Park restaurant was recovered from a salvage yard and refurbished before being raised over the new restaurant in February.
