Heigh-ho, heigh-ho. The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, the Magic Kingdom’s newest ride and the centerpiece of the park’s new Fantasyland, opens to the public today.
The ride takes Walt Disney World visitors through the classic tale of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” via mine cars around steep hills and exhilarating turns.
Guests travel through the forested world of the dwarfs, then plunge into a mine with glowing gems. Scenes and songs from Disney’s 1937 “Snow White” film play during the ride, and animatronic dwarfs and animals make an appearance.
There are some steep hills and quick plunges, and the cars pivot back and forth. However, there are fewer bumps and it’s shorter in duration than the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland.
There is a height requirement of 38 inches.
The wait line before entering the ride includes interactive activities, such as a tabletop video game where patrons try to match up gems from the mine.
The opening of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train marks the end construction for New Fantasyland, the largest expansion project in the Magic Kingdom’s 43-year history. Other attractions opened last year in the area, located just past Cinderella Castle.
