Free and Cheap: Find a freebie on tax day
Cash-strapped taxpayers may find a little bit of a silver lining on April 17, when several retailers are offering free giveaways or discounts to soften the blow of paying taxes. As we mentioned in our Free and Cheap blog, you can get a free Hydromassage all week. The offer is good through Friday. Panda Express is debuting a new dish – Shanghai Angus Steak. Visit their Facebook page to "Raise The Steaks" and to print a free coupon to try this dish on tax day. Print a coupon for free curly fries from Arby's while supplies last. You can also enter to win $5,000 in "tax relief."Get a free scoop of their new yogurt from Marble Slab Creamery from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday. Locally this includes locations in Clearwater and Brandon only. Diners at P.F. Chang's will see their bill discounted by 15 percent on Tuesday to celebrate tax day. There are some restrictions, such as the deal does not cover alcoholic beverages. Another national chain with locations in the Bay area will also treat diners. Chili's is offering a free dessert or appetizer with the purchase of an adult entrée. The offer is good Monday through Wednesday and is available by visiting the restaurant's Facebook page and printing the coupon. You can also follow them on Twitter to get the free appetizer or sweet treat coupon. Sonic Drive-In is extending happy hour to all day on Tuesday. For that day only, all drinks and slushies are half price. Fans of Boston Market can enjoy a free meal with the purchase of a meal and a drink on Tuesday only. Don't forget to print and bring the coupon. Starting Sunday and running until April 30, get a "cat tax deduction" by paying $15 to adopt cats age 6 months and older from Humane Society of Tampa Bay. The normal adoption fee is $50 for adult cats. Finally, couldn't get your taxes done in time? Stop by your local H&R Block office for a free filing extension, offer good through Tuesday.
