South Tampa Titans offer football, cheerleading
The South Tampa Titans Pop Warner Football & Cheer Association is beginning its fall tackle football season and seeks football players and cheerleaders. The boys and girls involved in the organization range in age from 5 to 15 years old. There are six divisions of boys' tackle football teams and four girls' cheerleading teams. Approximately 60 percent of the boys and girls in the organization come from military families and many of the volunteer coaches are personnel at MacDill Air Force Base or are on the coaching staff of Robinson High School's football team. The Titans are an affiliate of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. in the Tampa Bay area and are associated with Foundation for Youth Development. Many Titan players have moved on to become successful high school and college football players. The Titans play an eight-game schedule with four games at Robinson and four away games, and practice at Skyview Park, 6203 South Martindale Ave., just south of Interbay Boulevard and MacDill Avenue. They practice four days a week until Labor Day, after which teams practice three days a week. Practices start at 6 p.m.There will be registration signups at Play-It-Again Sports at Britton Plaza on Saturday, July 20 and again on Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will a Meet-and-Greet event on Tuesday, July 27 at 6 p.m. at the Titans' practice field.
