Day-old fire blamed for damage to building in Tampa
A day-old fire that rekindled and ignited flammable containers is blamed for damage to a Tampa house Sunday. About 3:27 p.m. today, several Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to a report of a structure fire at 1305 Palifox St. Crews reported heavy smoke and flames showing from a building behind the address and firefighters quickly contained the fire to the one structure, Tampa Fire said. The residents were burning items in a barrel near the structure behind the home Saturday and the smoldering embers were still hot enough to ignite flammable containers, Tampa Fire said. Damage to the primary structure was estimated at $2,500 and the nearby structure's damage was about $1,000.No injuries were reported. Tampa Fire Rescue Fire Investigators are on scene investigating.
