He’s back: Hulk Hogan takes the stage for his Tampa homecoming when TNA Impact Wrestling Live, which airs on Spike TV, has a live taping at the USF Sun Dome, 4202 E. Fowler Ave., at 7 p.m. tonight. Hogan, who lives in Clearwater and attended Robinson High School and the University of South Florida, is among the list of TNA stars appearing live at the event, which include his daughter, Brooke Hogan, “The Icon” Sting, TNA heavyweight champion Bully Ray, Kurt Angle and Velvet Sky. Tag team champs Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez, Bobby Roode and Austin Aires also will perform. Tickets range from $17.50 to $127.50, plus service charges, and are available through Ticketmaster, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or at the Sun Dome box office. Calling all patriots: The Veteran’s Council of Hillsborough presents its annual Memorial Day Celebration at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park & Rear Admiral LeRoy Collins Jr. Museum, 3602 U.S. 301.
Charles Haugabrooks will perform patriotic songs, and the Scottish American Military Society will conduct a POW/MIA Missing Man Remembrance Celebration to be followed by a wreath presentation by the area Gold Star Wives. Following the presentation, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony at the future site of the Iraq Veterans Memorial. The public is invited and refreshments will be served. Concert aids critters: The Tampa Tribune’s Steve Otto, along with Marti Ryan of Hillsborough County Animal Services, host the 17th annual Scratch My Back fundraiser at 5 p.m. at Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road. The concert for the Friends of Hillsborough County Animal Services features raffles and a 50/50 drawing as well as performances from The Lint Rollers with special guest Dennis Toerpe, The Quivering Rhythm Hounds and an unplugged set from The Groves. Military appreciation: In honor of Memorial Day, Lowry Park Zoo welcomes military personnel (active-duty and retirees) with free zoo admission from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The service member needs to show a Department of Defense photo ID at the Zoo’s ticket counter. As many as three direct dependents also are entitled to free admission. Dependents may take advantage of the offer without their service member, though an adult must accompany minors.
