The Patel Conservatory Theater presents “The Music Man Jr.” in the TECO Theater at the Straz Center, today through Saturday and April 18-20. The musical tells the story of a fast-talking traveling salesman who falls in love with a willful librarian and piano teacher. Songs include “Seventy-Six Trombones” and “Til There Was You.”
The musical will be performed by 37 Conservatory students, ranging in age from 11 to 15, who have studied the play since January.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday. Tickets start at $15 and may be purchased by calling (813) 229-7827, in person at the Straz Center ticket office or online at www.strazcenter.org.
The Black Honkeys bring ‘70s funk to The Shops at Wiregrass for this week’s Concerts on the Circle.
Concerts takes place Thursdays throughout April from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the valet circle on Piazza Avenue. A live DJ kicks off the show at 6 p.m. and the band performs at 7 p.m. The concert series theme is music of the decades, with concertgoers invited to dress in their favorite ‘70s-themed attire.
