Then and now: Carrollwood Recreation Center, 1986 and 2013
If you can't spot similarities between the Carrollwood Recreation Center of 1986 and today's, it's because the existing structure was built on the 3515 McFarland Road site after the 30-year-old building was demolished in October 2006. The new, larger rec center opened in the summer of 2007 with 4,500 square feet of space, 50 percent more than its predecessor. The $1.2 million project was funded by the Carrollwood Recreation District, a taxing authority that includes the 932 homeowners in Original Carrollwood.
St. Petersburg's ballooning sewage debt could threaten credit rating (but there's a Hail Mary plan to avoid that)
