Steinbrenner players to help run summer basketball camp
LUTZ - Coming off a 21-7 season and a berth in the state playoffs, Steinbrenner High School girls basketball coach JR Allen is looking to the future already. Allen will be conducting the Steinbrenner Warriors 2013 Basketball Camp twice this summer, featuring his entire coaching staff with varsity and junior varsity players providing extra instruction. The camps are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 17 to 20 and the second one from July 29 to Aug. 1. Players will be receive instruction in the fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and also playing on a team.Players should bring a bag lunch or they can buy lunch at the camp for $5 each day. There will also be a concession area available. Some of the sessions will be held at Martinez Middle School, which next door to Steinbrenner High. The camp is co-ed and for players aged 8 to 16 years old. Cost is $80 per camper, $140 for two siblings, and $200 for three siblings. It is limited to the first 80 registered campers. Taylor Thigpen, Rachel Briere and Olivia Unger are among the Steinbrenner players expected to participate.
