New Oldsmar Hampton Inn hosts trade show
TAMPA - Oldsmar has plenty to offer. It has not only proximity to the water but to downtown Tampa as well, and plenty of golf and fishing. It’s Tampa Bay in a nutshell. It also offers a vibrant business community that is attracting more out-of-towners every year. The problem facing the Oldsmar Chamber of Commerce was finding a place to house all the newcomers. Four large hotels in Oldsmar got an addition when Hampton Inn & Suites opened for business two weeks ago and is poised to host the Oldsmar Trade Show/Mega Mixer from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. April 17. Businesses from all over the Tampa Bay area are invited to not only expose their businesses to hundreds of local business owners and potential clients, but it is also an occasion to host the grand opening of the Hampton Inn & Suites.Jerry Custin, president of the Oldsmar Chamber of Commerce, said it’s a sign of Oldsmar’s growth that a fifth major hotel is coming to town. “This is a pretty big thing for a nonbeach community,” Custin said. “It’s been four years since the last major hotel opened, so this is a big thing.” The new Hampton Inn & Suites joins the Hilton Garden Inn and Holiday Inn as hotels developed by Paul Simone. He will be cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremonies even though the hotel is already open for business. The Hampton Inn is going to have more meeting space than any other facility in Oldsmar, with more than 3,000 square feet. The trade show will feature at least 55 tables with more than 50 vendors, and plenty of space for other chambers of commerce from all over the Tampa Bay area. “We’ll have something for everybody,” Custin said. “Almost everyone will be here including almost all of the chambers. We are really excited about it.” Custin said the event is designed to allow professionals from all over Tampa Bay to “get out of the bubble” and network with other local businesses. “We’ve worked really hard on it,” Custin said. “We want to promote Oldsmar and all of the areas around it. Come for the fun and stay for the business.” The event is free. There will be refreshments and door prizes.
