If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at musical theater, after several auditions, director Carlyn Postle has an exceptional opportunity remaining for a male actor, age 18 – 30, who can sing and do movement.
“Babes in Toyland” is the theater’s annual holiday family show.
“Babes in Toyland” is a classic adventure tale that tells the story of good over evil, with the villain, Barnaby, attempting to steal the Mistress Mary Quite Contrary from her true love, Alan, Barnaby’s nephew. Add a threat of foreclosure on Mary’s mother, the poor Widow Piper’s home and toss in some other delightful fairytale characters, a dangerous Spider Forest and a Master Toymaker, and you got the setting for another fabulous production at Carrollwood Players Theatre.
The only thing missing from this promising adventure?
“The last member of the cast,” said Carlyn. “The cast of characters in this show from children to adults get the chance to ‘play’ those fairy story people they read about when they were children. The character I am looking for is Alan, the hero and nephew to the villain Barnaby. He could be anywhere from 18 to 30 years old. He has solos and a duet with his love, Mistress Mary. Alan will have to fight the spiders (dance number) and be choreographed for the sword fight in the ‘March of the Toy Soldiers.’”
“Babes in Toyland” takes to the stage Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays beginning Nov. 28 and running through Dec. 20 at Carrollwood Players Theatre.
