TAMPA — There are golf camps, there are tennis camps, and there are swim camps.
But the Carrollwood Country Club has found a way to combine all three into its summer Resort Camp.
The kids who enroll in the five-day programs that run every week starting on June 13 won’t be needing their cellphones or iPods. Every day at the camp, 13903 Clubhouse Drive in Carrollwood, is crammed full of activities with time for lunch and fun. The camps run from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., with a lunch break.
Actually, the Resort Camp is one of three camps offered at Carrollwood Country Club. There are also separate tennis camps and golf camps. Last year’s camps sold out early and this year isn’t any different, said Erin Spalding, director of Carrollwood Country Club’s membership sales team.
“It sells out fast and the kids love it,” Spalding said. “They enjoy it even if the Resort Camp keeps them so busy. Between swimming, golfing, and playing tennis, there’s no time for cellphones and television.”
All of the camp instructors are fully certified in professional teaching and there is also a full-time “den mother” on staff to take care of the campers. All kids ages 6-13 are invited, and there is loaner equipment available for each activity.
There are also group rates, Spalding said; and discounts are available, including discounts for members of the club.
