Deal fanatics should put on their running shoes. Sweetbay locations are starting to clear out inventory in preparation for their conversion to the Winn-Dixie brand.
I’d like to give a simple schedule, but in reality the conversion is crazily complex. Winn-Dixie is converting groups of stores in phases.
Here’s one example. The Swann Avenue location in central Tampa now has half-off deals on a series of in-house brands, but only in the center of the store, i.e. not refrigerated items like milk and O.J. Otherwise, the sale includes “Sweetbay” brands, as well as Hannaford, Taste of Inspirations, My Essentials, Healthy Accents and Nature’s Place. (Just look for tags on the shelf.)
The real footrace begins Sunday when the store puts half-off tags on produce and meat. I visited a store that just went through that phase in Valrico, and deli clerks say people were packed eight-deep at the counter. So, happy hunting, deal fanatics.
