BRANDON — A woman died this afternoon after a house fire in Brandon.
Firefighters say the woman was found in the foyer of the house by a man who lives there who had just arrived home. The man administered CPR on the woman until firefighters arrived.
The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The fire at 1610 Southwind Drive was reported at about 2:45 p.m. today. The concrete-block home had heavy fire and smoke damage in a back bedroom and smoke damage throughout, according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.
The woman has not yet been identified. Fire Rescue officials also have not identified the man but said he was the boyfriend of the woman who died.
The man was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation but declined to be taken to the hospital. A cat also died in the fire.
