TOPSoccer gives special needs kids chance to play

The Brandon TOPSoccer Program will begin its 15th season in September and is designed for youths with special needs so they can learn, play and enjoy soccer. Registration dates and times are: Aug. 9 @ 6-8 p.m. Aug. 10 @ 9 a.m.-noon
Aug. 16 @ 6-8 p.m. Aug. 17 @ 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 23 @ 6-8 p.m. Aug. 24 @ 9 a.m.-noon. At registration, all players must bring a copy of their individual education plan (IEP) and birth certificate, and be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a valid identification. The program is open to boys and girls with special needs, ages 5 and older as of Sept. 7. The season begins on Sept. 7 and ends on Nov. 16 with all games played on Saturday mornings. Registration and games are at the J.C. Handly Soccer Complex on South Kings Avenue. The Brandon TOPSoccer Program was recognized with the "2009 Excellence in Action" award presented by the Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System of the Hillsborough County Public Schools and also with the "2010 TOPSoccer Club of the Year" award by the Florida Youth Soccer Association.
