Things to do in the Brandon area this weekend

TODAYBrandon Blast: In honor of Independence Day, Westfield Brandon hosts its annual Brandon Blast from 5 to 9 p.m. in The Restaurant Courtyard in front of the Cheesecake Factory. The event includes live bands and family entertainment, culminating with the Brandon area's only fireworks display. Plant City parties: The City of Plant City presents its eighth annual July 4th Celebration at 6 p.m. at Plant City Stadium, 1810 East Park Road. Activities on the stadium turf, pending weather restrictions, include inflatables, volleyball, face painting and more. Food vendors will be there along with live music. SUNDAY Motorcycle merriment: The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 5223 Orient Road, hosts a free Biker Bash from noon to 6 p.m. on the fifth floor of the Winner's Way parking garage. Patriotic picture: Tampa Theatre's Summer Classic Movie Series presents "Yankee Doodle Dandy" at 3 p.m. James Cagney won his only Oscar for this portrayal of real-life composer, playwright, actor, singer and dancer George M. Cohan. Following the screening, USF film professor Harriet Deer will lead a short discussion of the film.
