Physician Office Building now open on Big Bend Road
RIVERVIEW - Work on St. Joseph's Hospital-South is still scheduled to be completed in the early part of 2015, but a new building on the project's 72-acre site is already serving South County. The free-standing, two-story Physician Office Building, 10141 Big Bend Road, opened its doors July 1. The facility houses BayCare Outpatient Imaging and BayCare Laboratories, in addition to HealthPoint Medical Group's Patient-Centered Medical Home. BayCare Health System broke ground on the $225 million non-profit hospital, 6901 Simmons Loop Road, in October. In addition to the Physician Office Building, the project consists of the 325,000-square-foot hospital and an attached 80,000-square-foot medical office building. "This is a big step in our long journey to serve this community," said Stephen Mason, president and CEO of BayCare. "We're excited to make these services available right here in Riverview, where we can provide our high standard of care in combination with excellent service to our patients."Long-time Apollo Beach physician Frederick Taylor will relocate his primary care practice to the Physician Office Building and add a new associate physician. The new practice can accommodate four primary care physicians and three rotating specialists. The outpatient center will provide imaging services by appointment, including MRI, CT, digital mammography, and bone density. Other imaging exams - such as X-rays and ultrasounds - do not require an appointment and can be serviced on a walk-in basis. The laboratory will include a wide range of general and specialized testing, with walk-in service available. BayCare will celebrate the opening of the Physician Office Building with a yet-to-be-scheduled community event in September that will include wellness screenings, education workshops, tours of the new building, and a virtual tour of St. Joseph's Hospital-South.
