JCPenney in Brandon reopens after pre-Christmas fire

The JCPenney store at Westfield Brandon mall has reopened today, more than three weeks after a fire closed the location, according to the mall website.

The store has been closed since a late-night fire on Dec. 21.

Several employees who were inside the store when the fire started were able to exit the building and call 911. No injuries were reported.

Investigators determined the fire, which started inside a wall, was accidental and caused by an electrical problem.

The rest of the mall is not affected and will be open.
