RIVERVIEW – A volume of Charles Dickens’ works, published in the 1870s, will be a featured item at the Riverview Friends of the Library’s fundraiser.
“We probably have well over 1,000 books for sale,” said Gretchen Del Savio, spokeswoman for the library boosters group. “Current best-sellers, lots of adult fiction, picture books and classics. We have Spanish books for children and adults, some German, too, as well as Test of Adult Basic Education books and study books for college courses and SAT exams.”
The Dickens book is an incomplete set of his works, volumes 1,3 and 4 that was published in 1870.
The sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Riverview Library, 10509 Riverview Drive. No library card is needed to browse or purchase books.
Prices are: best books $3-5; hardcover $1; trade paperbacks $1; paperbacks 50 cents. Blue-light specials and buck-a-bag deals will happen randomly throughout the day.
Proceeds will help fund programs, program supplies and accessory items, like a refrigerator for the staff, said Del Savio.
“We also are looking for people who want to be involved in growing our Friends group and the campaign for a new Riverview library,” said Del Savio.
A single membership in the Friends of the Library is $10; family membership is $25; patron, $50, and benefactor, $100.
Friends who help sort and alphabetize the books beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, will get first pick of the books, said Del Savio. Not yet a friend of the library? Join Friday at set up.
Book donations are accepted yearround, although no more books are needed for this sale.
