Brandon Rotary Club donates $40,000 to local charities

BRANDON - The Brandon Rotary Club has distributed $40,000 to six Brandon charities this year with proceeds from its yearly fundraisers. The club handed out checks during a recent meeting to representatives of A Kid's Place, I Am Hope Cafe, the Rotary Scholarship Fund, the Brandon Outreach Clinic, the Emergency Care Help Organization and Rotary's Camp Florida. The money was raised during the club's annual Casino Night, Brandon Rotary Club Golf Tournament and Wild Game Night. "We were so pleased to be able to hand out so much money to these deserving nonprofit groups during these difficult times, thanks to our members and all of those who supported our fundraisers throughout the year," said 2009-10 Brandon Rotary Club President Chuck Colwill.
The club is making plans for 2010-11 fundraisers, starting with its Casino Night Oct. 23. For information, go to www.brandonrotaryclub .org. The club meets noon Tuesdays at Center Place, 619 Vonderburg Drive, Brandon. A staff report
