Brandon motorcyclist killed; driver of other car sought

A Brandon motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon and a passenger suffered minor injuries when he was lost control after another car turned in front of him.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Jeffrey Allen Fogel was traveling westbound on Interstate-4 on the northbound entrance ramp to I-75 around 1:45 p.m. when an unidentified driver changed lanes and drove into Fogel’s path.

Fogel tried to avoid the crash but lost control, traveling into the center grass median and overturning, the FHP said.

Both Fogel and his passenger, 43-year-old Gina Michelle Fogel of Brandon, were thrown from the motorcycle, the FHP said.

Jeffrey Allen Fogel, who was not wearing a helmet, died Monday at Tampa General Hospital. Gina Michelle Fogel, who was wearing a helmet, suffered minor injuries, the FHP said.

Troopers describe the car as a white four-door sedan with a temporary license. Anyone with information is asked to call the FHP at (813) 631-4020.
