Hundreds of millions of television viewers around the world are expected to be watching the opening dance routine when the “Bollywood Oscars” broadcast live from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa next week.
Those dancers will be moving to a new track by former Tampa resident DJ Ravi Drums titled “Do Da Tampa,” which appeared online today.
The high-energy song features Miami-based conga player Gumbi Ortiz and has elements of reggae and salsa.
Dj Ravi Drums, whose real name is Ravi Jakhotia, graduated from Chamberlain High School before becoming an internationally-known musician and producer who has worked with artists such as Tupac Shakur, Paula Abdul and Justin Timberlake.
The song will be part of a six-minute dance number that tells the story of Tampa’s culture and opens the International Indian Film Awards on April 26 at 7 p.m.
