Rays, Feeding Tampa Bay to provide food, water today at Trop for Hurricane Irma victims

The Rays and Feeding Tampa Bay will provide food, bananas and water today at Tropicana Field for those in need due to Hurricane Irma.

The items - including MREs (Meals Ready to Eat, similar to military rations) will be available starting at 5 p.m. in Lot 6. Entry is off First Avenue South or the main Tropicana Field entrance off Ninth Street S.

The Rays had already announced plans to host a food drive with Feeding Tampa Bay at this weekend's games

Fans who donate unopened cans and non-perishable food items will get a voucher for two complimentary tickets to a 2018 home game (some will be exsluded), with collection areas outside of Gate 1 and inside Gates 1 and 3.

The groups say most needed are canned, ready-to-eat items with pull-tops (vegetables, fruit), protein in pouches or pull-top cans (tuna, beef stew, chili, canned chicken), snacks (protein bars, granola bars), and peanut butter. Also, non-food items such as toiletries, paper goods, diapers and cleaning supplies (mops, mop buckets, brooms, bleach wipes, bleach, garbage bags, bug spray).
