* Is it time to take the leap and believe this is the real Blake Snell? He talked a good game this spring and pitched well in his debut, but that rough second outing raised old doubts. But a good outing in Chicago and two dominant ones on the homestand sure seem promising.
* You can look at this a couple ways: After their 1-8 start playing seven games with the red-hot Red Sox and two with the potent Yankees, the Rays stepped down in class and stepped up by going 6-5 in their last 11. They still have to beat the big boys, but the confidence boost has to help.
* Seeing RHP Matt Andriese finish Saturday's game – relatively uneventfully – was significant. Andriese was slated for high-leverage hybrid duty going into the season, but a combination of poor performance and game circumstances minimalized him. The Rays need him to be effective.
