Golly bob-howdy! The attraction vehicle for the Slinky Dog Dash ride coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios was revealed on Wednesday, showing the playful daschund stretcing his coils on a coaster track.
Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster that will debut as one of two new attractions when Toy Story Land opens in summer 2018 at Hollywood Studios.
In Toy Story Land, guests will feel they have been shrunk to the size of a toy and will explore the world of Andy’s backyard. Fitting with the theme, Slinky Dog Dash will appear to be a coaster track that Andy has built all over his backyard using his Mega Coaster Play Kit, as well as some of his other favorite toys.
Once completed, it will join the Rock ‘n Roller Coaster to become Hollywood Studios’ second roller coaster. The other new planned ride in Toy Story Land is the Alien Swirling Saucers. The three-eyed, green alien toys from the claw machine at Pizza Planet will be featured, and riders will spin around while avoiding the claw.
Both new rides will join the existing Toy Story Mania! ride. The new land’s 2018 opening will be followed in 2019 by the opening of the 14-acre Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which is also under construction at the park.
A character in all three Toy Story movies, Slinky, often referred to as “Slink,” is a toy daschund with a metal Slinky toy as his middle. His thick Southern accent was voiced in the first two movies by the late Jim Varney. In Toy Story 3, comedian Blake Clark took over the voice after Varney’s death.
