This week’s pop culture winners and losers

Winners:

Meryl Streep
Fans might be able to forgive Meryl for reportedly not being in Mamma Mia 2. Streep, fresh off her umpteenth Oscar nom for The Post, is joining the cast of Big Little Lies for Season 2. Somehow a show starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Laura Dern just got better. "Well, now my acting dream has come true," Dern wrote on Twitter.
Jessica Chastain
Jessica Chastain, a longtime advocate of equal pay for women,  is doing more than "talking the talk" according to her costar Octavia Spencer.

During a Sundance Film Festival panel, Spencer said after Chastain approached her about doing a comedy and the two actors had a conversation about the gender wage gap.

"And then I said, 'But here's the thing, women of color on that spectrum, we make far less than white women. So, if we're gonna have that conversation about pay equity, we gotta bring the women of color to the table.' And I told her my story, and we talked numbers, and she was quiet, and she said she had no idea that that's what it was like for women of color."

Chastain then helped Spencer negotiate five times her initial salary by tieing their contracts together.

"She had been underpaid for so long," Chastain wrote on Twitter. "When I discovered that, I realized that I could tie her deal to mine to bring up her quote. Men should start doing this with their female costars."
This Is Us stars
When word got out that some of the cast members of This Is Us weren't in enough episodes for an invite to the SAG Awards, the stars of the show weren't having it. Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley each brought the actors who play their younger selves as their plus-ones. Susan Kelechi brought along Parker Bates and Mandy Moore was joined by Jermel Nakia.
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran, the singer almost every couple shares their first dance to, is getting hitched himself. "Got myself a fiancée just before new year," the 26-year-old singer wrote on Instagram with a photo of him kissing longtime girlfriend Cherry Seaborn. "We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx." The couple, who have known each other since high school, started dating in 2015 after reconnecting at Taylor Swift's 4th of July party.
Loser

Adam Hicks
Former Disney star Adam Hicks, best known for Lemonade Mouth and Zeke and Luther, was arrested on charges of armed robbery, a felony. The actor and singer allegedly committed three street robberies in a span of two hours, one victim being a 52-year-old man who said Hicks, armed with a handgun, demanded his wallet. Two women in their 70s also told police Hicks approached them and ordered them to get on the ground. Twitter was dumbfounded as to why Hicks, who has a role in the upcoming movie Shifting Gears and stars in Hulu's Freakish, would feel compelled to hold little old ladies at gunpoint. For some butterscotch candy? Petty cash? His net worth is a reported $3 million. Adam, what are you doing? Hicks and girlfriend Danni Tamburo, who police say was driving the getaway car, are being held on a $350,000 bail.
