What to watch this weekend: ‘A Christmas Story Live,’ Star Wars movie marathon, Hollywood Christmas Parade

OH, FUDGE! A CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE!

The trend of live musicals broadcast on television isn't slowing down anytime soon, and A Christmas Story Live! — based on the classic holiday movie and Broadway musical — was ripe for the next taking. Fox brings everything beloved about the movie and mixes it with aspects of the musical to bring a new take on the story of a young boy who just wants a BB gun for Christmas. Matthew Broderick stars as adult Ralphie and the narrator with Maya Rudolph as Ralphie's mom. Chris Diamantopoulos is Old Man Parker with Jane Krakowski as Miss Shields. The yuletide film has become a holiday favorite and a groan-inducing Christmas day binge. It tells the story of Ralphie (Andy Walken in Live!) and his eventful holiday season filled with visits to a creepy Santa, begging for a Red Ryder BB gun and watching a friend get his tongue stuck on a frozen light pole. 7 p.m. Sunday, Fox.

NOW ON NETFLIX

The Magicians Season 2: The Syfy supernatural series is like a mash-up of Harry Potter and the Chronicles of Narnia with very adult themes. The first season dealt with the arrival of new students to Brakebills University, where gifted students learn and hone their craft. The second season explores what happened to Quentin and his friends after they discovered Fillory was a real place.

The Santa Clause trilogy: This '90s Christmas classic and sequels kind of made you wish your dad would also accidentally kill Santa Claus so he could become the next St. Nick. But not really. Don't ever die, Santa. Tim Allen stars as the aforementioned dad who inadvertently becomes the jolly, bearded gift-giver.

Star Wars weekend marathon: TNT

Starting with The Phantom Menace and working its way to Return of the Jedi, TNT will air the first six Star Wars movies in order this weekend. Sorry, no The Force Awakens, but at least you can get a refresh on the original trilogy and the prequels.
