The coming-of-age film earned a record-breaking 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, an incredible feat for first-time director Greta Gerwig. "We put our heart and souls into this movie, and the last step of this deeply collaborative art form of filmmaking is giving the film to the audience and the film critics," Gerwig said after learning the film had surpassed previous record-holder Toy Story 2. "That there has been such a warm reception is a dream come true," Gerwig said. Gerwig was also named best director by the National Board of Review on Tuesday and the Saoirse Ronan won the Gotham Award for best actress.
