Lightning has answer for Devils and David Puddy

You knew those who work the scoreboard for the Lightning games at Amalie Arena would have an answer Saturday during Game 5 to the Devils using David Puddy during Game 4 at the Prudential Center.

Puddy meets Homer Simpson.

Actually, Puddy met Terry the Punisher, the Lightning's biggest face paint fan, according to sources.

Terry wins.

To recap: The Devils invited New Jersey native Patrick Warburton, 53, the actor who played David Puddy, Elaine's boyfriend on Seinfeld, to Wednesday's game.

RELATED: David Puddy fired up Devils fans

Puddy was a Devils fan, who painted his face in the Devils' colors and wore a New Jersey jersey to a Rangers-Devils playoff game in 1995. It did not go over well with the Seinfeld crew.

Warburton reprised his role and fired up the crowd before and during Game 4 while clips from the episode played on the giant videoboard over center ice.

It was a huge hit.

The Devils lost, though.

So, the Lightning responded with this clip and pulled it out after Ryan Callahan's empty-net goal put the finishing touches on the 3-1 victory.
