Jefferson receiver Jermaine Eskridge is out for the season after breaking his arm in last week’s 28-17 preseason win over Newsome.
The injury happened in the third quarter. At the time, Eskridge had two catches for 73 yards.
It is the arm Eskridge broke in the playoffs last year.
This is the second time the senior has missed an entire high school season. He had to sit out his sophomore year after transferring from Alonso to Jefferson.
The loss is a blow for the Dragons. Eskridge (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) is a three-star prospect with more than 50 offers from Division I-A schools. He has yet to make his commitment.
Jefferson does have other weapons in the passing game. Justin McGriff is a UCF commit and Dontavius Smith had four catches for 118 yards against the Wolves in the preseason.
