TALLAHASSEE – For the second time in the last four decades, Florida State will be welcoming a new football coach.
Willie Taggart will be formally introduced later today at Doak Campbell Stadium. The former USF coach – most recently at Oregon – takes over for Jimbo Fisher.
"I am truly honored to be selected as the next head coach of the Florida State football program," Taggart said in a statement. "I grew up in a family of Seminole fans, and this is a fantastic opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream while returning to my home state. I want to thank Ed Burr, President (John) Thrasher and (AD) Stan Wilcox for trusting me to lead the best program in the country. I understand and embrace the expectations at Florida State and am excited to start working together toward our next championship."
Taggart's face, as you imagine, is everywhere, on every monitor at the stadium – including the ones in the bathroom.
We'll have more updates later today.
