Florida State didn't exactly get a glamorous destination for its NCAA-record 36th consecutive bowl game.
The Seminoles (6-6) are headed to Shreveport, La. for the Independence Bowl on Dec. 27. FSU will play 8-4 Southern Miss for the first time since 1996.
The Seminoles are 13-8-1 all-time against the Golden Eagles. The one loss came in 1989, when FSU was upset by Brett Favre. That defeat was part of an 0-2 FSU start – the last time the Seminoles had done that, until this season.
This will be FSU's first trip to Independence Bowl.
