My kids are officially out of school for the summer and I’ve been busy planning some fun adventures for us over the next few weeks. Here are some of the places I’m hoping to explore:
Amelia Island – My family and I love exploring nature, especially on the waterways. Amelia River Cruises takes visitors on guided tours that focus on both the history of the area and the wildlife. Dolphins, manatees, sea otters and even alligators are typically seen during the trip. They also have a family-friendly sunset cruise every evening.
Cape Canaveral – One of my fondest memories as a kid was watching a shuttle launch from the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex with my dad. I’ve been keeping an eye on the upcoming rocket launch schedule and I’m hoping to get there this summer with my kids.
Fort Walton Beach – The beach is calling my name this summer, too. The new Holiday Inn Resort Fort Walton Beach is just steps from the beach and also has KidSuites, a big plus for me when traveling with the whole family. Dive-Inn movies and an on-site kids club have me ready to pack it up and visit the Emerald Coast.
Homasassa – My girls absolutely loved visiting Homasassa Butterfly last year and they’ve been asking to go again, so that’s on the top of our summer list. It’s a great place to learn about the stages of a butterfly’s life and the greenhouse is a relaxing sanctuary filled with the pretty winged creatures. I’ll never forget the look on my daughter’s face when a butterfly landed on her hand.
What’s on your summer bucket list? I hope it involves a Florida vacation!
