Saturday was a big day for Scott Frost, who won an American Athletic Conference championship in guiding UCF to a 62-55 double-overtime win over Memphis and has been announced as the new head coach at Nebraska.
Did you know Frost, now 42, played — very briefly — for the Bucs? The former Nebraska quarterback switched to defensive back in the NFL, and played four games with Tampa Bay to end the 2013 season.
Frost wore No. 21 for the Bucs, and had a single tackle in his four games — in Dec. 2003, he made the tackle on a 27-yard punt return by the Saints. He came in training camp in 2004 but missed the cut, and smartly transitioned to a career in coaching. Frost had been cut four times when he landed with the Bucs — by the Jets, Browns, Packers and 49ers.
