Yo dawg: Randy Jackson visits MacDill AFB
Randy Jackson didn't waste any time finding a new venture now that he's off “American Idol.” Jackson, who announced earlier this month he was leaving the Fox competition series after 12 seasons, was in the area to promote his new line of patriotic-themed guitars being sold through HSN, headquartered in St. Petersburg. Jackson stopped off at MacDill Air Force Base on Thursday to present the base with a set of American Tribute Collection guitars and play “America the Beautiful” during a ceremony for base personnel being promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant. “Yo dawg,” Jackson shouted back to the mostly uniformed crowd who was shouting his “Idol” catchphrase as he took the stage. “With the guitars coming out on Memorial Day weekend I thought, 'Hey, let me go hang out with the people who've been protecting me forever.' … Some people, I know, take it for granted, but just know, the dawg don't take it for granted.” Jackson's appearance on HSN begins Friday at midnight.
