Permanent 'Lights on Tampa' installation coming this summer

TAMPA - The "Lights on Tampa" public art program is slated to get a new, permanent installation, Mayor Bob Buckhorn's office announced. The mayor, along with Gordon Gillette, president of Tampa Electric Co. and Peoples Gas, will talk more about the installation at 2:30 p.m. today at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The installation is slated to begin in early summer. "Lights on Tampa" is an exhibition of outdoor, lighted artwork integrated with the architecture of downtown Tampa. It started in 2006 and returned in 2009 and 2011, and organizers intend to make it a biennial event.
