Leno, Celtic Woman join Straz season lineup

Jay Leno, Celtic Woman and the Broadway musical “Once” have been added to the 2014-15 season at the Straz Center, it was announced Thursday.

Former “Tonight Show” host Leno will appear March 29, while Irish musical group Celtic Woman will perform April 25.

The Tony-winning “Once” returns to Tampa on Sept. 22-27, 2015.

New comedy performances include Demetri Martin (Dec. 12) and Russell Peters (Jan. 18)

New music performances include Guatemalan singer-songwriter Gaby Moreno (Nov. 7), jazz artist Gregory Porter (Dec. 18) The Piano Guys (Feb. 4) and Celtic Roots with the Celts (March 19).

A Cabaret series has also been added to the schedule and includes performances by “The Lion King” star Kissy Simmons (Nov. 1), twin brothers Will and Anthony (Dec. 6) and Karen Mason (Feb. 14). Natalie Prass (May 11) has been added to the Club Jaeb lineup.

New theater performances include “Dixie’s Tupperware Party” (Oct. 15-19), “50 Shades! The Musical Parody” (Jan. 25), the one-man musical “My Sinatra” (Feb. 28), “Late Nite Catechism with Sister Mary Z” (May 1-3) and “Menopause The Musical” (June 2-7).

New dance performances include the Youth America Grand Prix Gala Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow (Jan. 10) and the Next Generation Ballet’s new production of Coppélia (May 1-2).

The new shows are in addition to previously announced performances by comedians Nick Swardson (Sept. 30) and Chris D’Elia (Oct. 25) and musical comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates (Nov. 21).

Tickets for most 2014-2015 events go on sale to the public on Saturday at the Straz Center Ticket Sales Office and online at www.strazcenter.org.
