Latin star Cristian Castro to perform in St. Petersburg

Mexican pop star Cristian Castro will make his Tampa Bay area debut Oct. 23 with a concert at The Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg.
Castro, a Grammy-nominated singer and perennial presence on the Billboard Latin charts since the early 90s, is touring behind a live album released earlier this year titled “En Primera Fila.” The album features a mix of covers and original love ballads.
Tickets, priced at $29, $39, $49 and $59, go on sale Aug. 29 at noon through TheMahaffey.com, the theater’s box office, or by calling (727) 893-7832.
The Spanish-language star had his biggest crossover success with his 1993 hit “Amor Eterno,” which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and cemented him as a teen idol throughout Latin America.
Castro is the son of well-known actress and singer Veronica Castro and comedian Manual Valdes. Before his musical career took off, Cristian Castro was a child actor appearing alongside his mother on the telenovela “El Derecho de Nacer.”
