'Book of Mormon' coming to Straz
TAMPA - The Broadway smash musical "The Book of Mormon" will play the Straz Center as part of its 2013-14 Broadway season, it was announced Friday. "The Book of Mormon," created by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, is religious satire that tells the story of Mormon missionaries who travel to Uganda where they meet all sorts of people that challenge their beliefs. Parker and Stone are Emmy-winning creators of the raunchy animated series, "South Park." "The Book of Mormon" won nine Tony Awards in 2011 including best musical, best score and best book.The New York Times called it "the best musical of this century." Specific performance dates will be announced as touring routes are confirmed. According to the Straz Center, the best way to guarantee seats to the show is to become a Broadway season ticket holder.
