TAMPA – A variety of new classes for adults will be starting in September at the Life Enrichment Center at 9704 N. Boulevard. Some of the offerings are:
• Beginning watercolors is a four-week class from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Sept. 3. Instructor Carly Johnston will teach the basic techniques of watercolor painting. Participants will work from a photograph or image of their choosing or make a Mandala creation. The cost of the class is $50 for members of the LEC and $60 for others.
• Drawing and mixed media is a mid-level, seven-week course from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursdays beginning Sept. 5. Debra Radke will work with students to create three finished drawings and/or mixed media artwork ready for gallery display. Collage materials will be furnished by the center and the students will provide their own supplies. The cost is $125 for members and $140 for others.
• Forever Moving is a four-week modern dance class from 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays beginning Sept. 6. Participants will explore movement with an introduction to choreography. Previous dance experience is not needed for this contemporary project. The cost per workshop is $7 for members and $10 for others.
• Tai chi classes will take place for six weeks on Mondays beginning Sept 9. The beginners class will be from 6 to 7 p.m. and the intermediate class will follow from 7 to 8 p.m. Students will learn to move in an ergonomic and efficient manner that helps to improve balance, strength and stamina. These classes will take place at MOSI, 4801 E. Fowler Ave. The cost is $60 to participate.
Annual membership to the Life Enrichment Center starts at $30.
