WMNF staff picks for Tropical Heatwave

Wondering what to see out of the more than 60 acts at this weekend's Tropical Heatwave music festival?
We asked some WMNF staffers and on-air personalities to give us the bands they most want to see.
RANDY WIND, program director
Dirty Bourbon River Show – a raucous group with a New Orleans favor served with piano, brass, banjo, saxophone, clarinet and kazoo.
Soul troubadour Cody ChestnuTT
Jamaican reggae band Dubtonic Kru
Jason D. Williams – a wild boogie-woogie piano man who might remind some of Jerry Lee Lewis
SCOTT ELLIOTT, host of WMNFs “All Souls” program
R&B singer Nikki Hill – recalls the traditional soul music of Etta James and Laverne Baker. “She really shook up the Rockabilly Ruckus at Skipper's Smokehouse earlier this year,” he says.
Daria & The Hip Drops, an indie pop group
Balladeer Ryan Montbleau
The New Orleans based The Stooges Brass Band.
Ryan Montbleau – “I saw Ryan at Skipper's when he played there earlier this year,” she says.” He has the ability to take some deep life happenings and mold them into great works of art.”
Paul Thorn
Whiskey Gentry
Southern Hospitality
AMY SNIDER, co-host of “It's the Music”
American Aquarium, a rock 'n' roll band out of Raleigh, NC.
