Search continues for missing boater from Pinellas Park
Officers from several law enforcement agencies looked again today for a 49-year-old man missing from his boat near Fort De Soto. An active search continues by Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. They will check the area via boat until dark. The sheriff’s Marine Unit will rejoin the search Tuesday morning, the sheriff’s office said. Pinellas deputies say Michael Douglas Rhine, of Pinellas Park, was boating at Bunces Pass near Fort De Soto Park around 4:30 p.m. Sunday, and fell overboard after his boat developed engine trouble. Deputies say Rhine tried to fix the outboard motor but fell in the water and did not resurface.Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pinellas sheriff’s office at (727) 582-6200.
