St. Pete to party before Rays opener

ST. PETERSBURG - Tampa Bay Rays fans will welcome the team back for another season Tuesday with a street party before the opening pitch.
The party will go from noon to 3 p.m. in front of Ferg's Sports Bar and Grill, 1320 Central Ave.
The festivities include live country and top 40 music, giveaways, kids' games, stadium fare, and beer and sports merchandise for sale, along with appearances by Mayor Bill Foster, Miss St. Petersburg and other local personalities.
Police will close Central Avenue, between 13th and 15th streets, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the party.
Tropicana Field is just a short walk away.
The Rays take on the Baltimore Orioles, with a scheduled start of 3:10 p.m. A sellout is expected.
Tropicana Field: $15 to $30 per car, depending on the lot. The first 100 cars with four or more passengers park free until an hour before game time in Lots 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9.
Nearby lots: There are more than 70 private parking lots, licensed by the city, within a half-mile radius of the stadium. These lots are designated by an event parking sign with the letter “P” and a lot number and are staffed by a uniformed attendant.
Downtown: The SouthCore garage is at 100 First Ave. S., and the MidCore/BayWalk garage is accessible from Second Street North, between First and Second avenues North. You can walk to the stadium or take a free shuttle.
Shuttles: On opening day, free shuttles will start running at 1:10 p.m. and stop an hour after the game. The shuttles run once about every 10 or 15 minutes.
Shuttle stops are on Second Street, between Central Avenue and First Avenue South, and outside Tropicana Field on 16th Street, just south of Third Avenue South. Shuttles with disability accommodations, including vehicles with wheelchair lifts, will be available at every game.
For the rest of the season, the shuttles will start 90 minutes before the game and end an hour after the game or postgame concert.
