King High students honor slain siblings
TAMPA - King High students dedicated a Relay for Life fundraiser Saturday to the memory of Calyx Schenecker, who was a sophomore at the school, and her younger brother. The event raised money for the American Cancer Society. Calyx, 16, and her brother, Beau, 13, were fatally shot Jan. 27. Their mother, Julie Schenecker, 50, is charged with murder in the slayings.Calyx was a member of King's cross country team; the school's Relay for Life team named her honorary captain. As part of a remembrance service following the fundraiser, King High students planned to walk a lap of the school track, and the siblings' father, U.S. Army Col. Parker Schenecker, was scheduled to speak and make a donation.
