NEW PORT RICHEY — Deputies arrested a Dunedin man on Sunday who was on the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office’s "prolific offender’’ list.
James Edward Boyle, 50, was being held Monday in the Pasco County Jail in lieu of $134,300 bail for 11 felony and misdemeanor charges in connection with multiple incidents.
Boyle was arrested on charges of robbery, attempted murder and armed kidnapping in connection with an incident Sunday where deputies said he robbed, pistol-whipped, shot in the shoulder and threatened to kill a man. That man, who was not identified, escaped through a bathroom window.
The man told deputies that Boyle arrived at his friend’s home on 10745 Fawn Drive between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. He came with a sawed-off shotgun and semi-automatic pistol, the arrest report said, and struck the man in the face with the pistol. Then he shot him through his left shoulder.
Boyle forced the man into the home’s bathroom at gunpoint, the arrest report said, and threatened to kill him if he didn’t stay quiet. Boyle then demanded money. The man gave him about $160, deputies said.
According to deputies, Boyle told the man that "they started digging a hole in the backyard for him."
The man climbed through a bathroom window, escaped.
The man told deputies he knew Boyle and identified him in a photo lineup.
