He drove into Tampa Bay and walked away uninjured, troopers say

Osvaldo Jares, 25, drove his 2002 Ford F150 into Tampa Bay Tuesday morning and didn't suffer any injuries.

A Miami resident lost control of his truck and tumbled into Tampa Bay Tuesday morning and walked away unscathed.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Osvaldo Jares, 25, fell asleep at the wheel of his 2002 Ford F150 before losing control and driving into Tampa Bay at 9:16 a.m.

Jares was headed westbound on Gandy Boulevard, approaching San Fernando Boulevard NE, according to FHP.

No alcohol was involved, troopers said, but Jares was charged with careless driving.
