Congratulations to Lion Country Safari, just outside West Palm Beach, on the recent birth of their first giraffe calf of 2014.
The newest addition, born June 24, is named Nafari, which means "first-born" in Swahili. He weighed 141.5 pounds (64.3 kg) and measured 70 inches (1.78 m) tall upon arrival.
Nafari and his mom will reside in the maternity pen for bonding time for about three months. But, don’t worry -- if you visit the park, you can still get a glimpse of them. They're visible in the drive-through preserve (section 7, Hwange National Park) and from the giraffe-feeding exhibit.
Here’s a video of baby Nafari with his mother. Isn’t he precious?
