A boy in a mustard costume had no hope trying to “ketchup” (sorry, couldn’t resist) to his competitors, and dropped more than the race during the Hot Dog Derby at Sunday’s game between the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals.
Much like the races at Rays games, which features competitors in awkward soda-bottle costumes, the kids in the Hot Dog Derby try to maneuver in costumes representing mustard, ketchup and relish.
While in stride, the pants began to fall off the boy in the mustard costume, resulting in a tumble to the turf.
He fell again, despite efforts by a stadium employee to help him pull his pants up.
He eventually finished, and while he didn’t win the race, he definitely won the support of fans who gave him a rousing ovation.
