Tampa police are working to find out how a truck ended up partially submerged in the Hillsborough River on Sunday morning.
Officers responded to a call about a vehicle in the river shortly after 7 a.m. and discovered the red, 2004 Ford pickup with its front partially underwater near the bridge at East Hillsborough and Ola avenues, police said.
A police dive team searched the water for the truck’s occupants, but didn’t find anything, police said.
Detectives later tracked down the driver of the truck, who was safe and had no reported injuries, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and is being treated as a hit and run case due to property damage that occurred during the accident, police said.
No arrests have been made.
